2004 NRPS Mare, 16 hh
Foundation Mare of Dynamite Sport Horses
R. Johnson x Swan Creek Brownie/Second Career
Regal Dutchess was bred to be an eventer, and she was exactly what every eventer wanted.
She could jump! As a yearling she could jump out of the round pen at will – and do it in beautiful form.
She moved quite nicely for the dressage portion of eventing, and she had a great brain.
More importantly she became my daughter Kristy’s – and several of our grandkids’ – horse. She especially loved the kids and the attention she received from them. Not only did she teach several of our grandkids how to ride, she gave pony rides to underprivileged children from The House of Refuge Sunnyslope and to missionary families’ children that were back in the States on furlough. Many of these children had never been up close to or ridden a horse before, and she loved the children. Unfortunately, she broke her hind leg and we had to have her put down. She is truly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Sire: R. Johnson, NRPS
G.Ramiro Z x Able Albert x Telstar
R. Johnson’s enormous jumping talent, fabulous movement and natural athletic ability combined with his beautiful temperament made him an all-around performer. He has a powerful way of moving, defined by a large clear walk, a rhythmical loose trot and a strong ground-covering canter.
R. Johnson’s Sire, G. Ramiro Z, is one of the most influential sires in European sport horse breeding. The most famous of his offspring is the jumping super-mare, Ratina Z,, winner of Gold at the 1992 and 1996 Olympic Games. R. Johnson’s dam, the keur mare Firsborn, combines the blood of the English Thoroughbred, Able Albert, and the superior Dutch jumping sire, Telstar.
Dam: Swan Creek Brownie
Swan Creek Brownie was bred for the racetrack and has both Bold Ruler and Dash for Cash in her pedigree. Bold Ruler was sire of the 1973 Triple Crown winner, Secretariat, and the great grandsire of the 1977 Triple Crown winner, Seattle Slew. Dash for Cash sired 751 winners with 135 stakes winners. Together they earned an impressive $ 37,386,838 dollars. Not only were these prolific legendary sires athletic – they were Dynamite!
